week of: 8/23/26 - 8/29/26
strokes count: 12
Did I reflect on any particular Scripture or aspect of God’s character while in the studio this week?
2 Corinthians 12:8-10: “Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
I’m very aware of my weakness when I’m making art. What a gift to rely on the Lord’s strength, rather than my own. What did I make?
Painted some boats, did some quick sketches in bed, and took on-location “notes” at a nature reserve.
What art-related books, podcasts, or videos did I consume, and what was one takeaway?
Listening to Sandi interviews on repeat… came up with my Practice Patterns.
Still reading The Unknown Matisse and Eye of the Painter. What was my “art outing”? How did it go?
Went out to a nature reserve close to the house. It was exciting but overwhelming! The complicated scene really challenged me. And even though I was in a spot away from people, it was still nerve-wracking knowing that somebody could possibly walk up and see what I was working on.
What do I want to work on this coming week?
Consistency in the studio and getting started with the first Chloe Briggs booklet.
