Welcome to Oak & Clay Studio!

I’m Hanna True, and I love The Creator and being made in His image.

I avoided making art for many years because I wanted guaranteed "good" results that would win others’ approval.

God used a beginner's pottery class to shine His light on my sinful desire for praise and approval and to redirect my heart toward reflecting His creativity for His glory.

My paintings and pottery are about learning to create from a place of humility, trust, and reliance on the Lord, Jesus Christ.

My work is not a display of mastery, but a reminder that God's light shines in unexpected places through imperfect people.

Praise be to God!

A bit more about me..

Today, I'm blessed to create from a home studio nestled beneath the live oak trees of South Alabama—a daily reminder of God's creativity, faithfulness, and strength.

I'm an artist, potter, homemaker, and lifelong learner seeking to reflect God's creativity through the changing seasons of life. As my husband and I prepare to adopt children, care for aging family members, and steward the responsibilities God has given us, I'm learning what it looks like to pursue creative work that is both home-oriented and God-honoring.

I'm currently focused on building strong foundations in painting and pottery through books, online instruction, and workshops. Artists like Peggi Kroll Roberts, Sandi Hester, and Mia from Pottery to the People are great sources of inspiration and instruction for me.

I’ve often wished that I could go back and watch great artists when they were first starting — to see their early work, their struggles, and their growth over time. That's what inspired me to start documenting my own journey now rather than waiting until I'm more experienced.

I’m a beginner, documenting the beginning.

I'm creating this record first for myself, but also in the hope that, if the Lord wills, it might encourage others to faithfully cultivate the creativity God has entrusted to them through every season of life.

Thanks for being here. Let’s have some fun reflecting our Creator!
